  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract

For the topping:

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until fully incorporated.
  • Stir in the mini chocolate chips, crushed peppermint candies, and peppermint extract.
  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are soft.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and top with extra crushed peppermint, if desired.
