  1. 1 lb boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  2. Β½ cup cornstarch
  3. 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  4. 3 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  6. 3 tbsp soy sauce
  7. 3 tbsp rice vinegar
  8. 2 tbsp sugar
  9. 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  10. 1 tsp chili garlic sauce (optional, for heat)
  11. 1 tsp sesame oil
  12. 23 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  13. 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Coat the chicken pieces evenly in cornstarch, making sure they are fully covered.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces in batches, cooking until golden and crispy (about 4-5 minutes per batch). Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger and sautΓ© for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, hoisin sauce, chili garlic sauce, and sesame oil. Pour this sauce into the pan and bring it to a simmer.
  5. Add the fried chicken back to the pan and toss until well-coated in the sauce.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Serve with rice and enjoy!

 

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of chili garlic sauce to control the spice level.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, you can bake the chicken instead of frying it.
