Description

These cranberry orange sweet rolls are a perfect combination of tangy cranberries and zesty orange, wrapped in a soft, buttery dough. Topped with a sweet orange glaze, theyโ€™re a delicious breakfast treat or holiday dessert.

For the dough:

  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

For the filling:

  • 1 cup fresh or dried cranberries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the glaze:

  1. 1 cup powdered sugar
  2. 2 tbsp orange juice
  3. 1/2 tsp orange zest

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt. Knead the dough until smooth, about 5-7 minutes. Cover and let rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • On a floured surface, roll the dough into a 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar, cranberries, orange zest, and cinnamon.
  • Roll up the dough tightly and slice it into 12 rolls. Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
  • Once the rolls are done, drizzle the orange glaze over them while theyโ€™re still warm.

Notes

  • You can use dried cranberries if fresh ones arenโ€™t available.
  • For extra flavor, try adding a bit of vanilla extract to the glaze.
  • The rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days.
